Heirloom Corn

All my Life I never really thought to much about saving seeds from our vegtable garden until I realized that most of the things I was planting were Hybrids and I couldn't save the seeds. Then I began to wonder what would happen if I had to plant a garden and couldn't save seeds for the next year and couldn't buy seeds either, the thought was very disturbing. So for that reason I have begun to save my own seeds, all that I can anyway and learn more about it.

Last year my dad bought some heirloom corn seed and we planted it with the hopes that it would produce and we would be able to plant againg this year. Here are the pictures of the seed we saved from last year.

This is the corn!! This is Bethany removing the seed from the corn. Its great to see your kids so enthused about some things, well this was one of those things. Bethany loves corn and this was so fun for her to be able to save the seed. We had lots of fun removing the seed from the cobs!!

Here is Grandpa with his seed!!

Amazingly enough we saved a whole 5 gallon bucket.
