Decoration Day !!

We love Memorial Day! Each year for as long as I can remember, I have gone to visit the graves with my mom and dad, or with my grandparents. Now that my grandparents have died, and I am getting a little older each year, those memories mean so much more to me. Each time we go and visit the graves I love to hear the stories of my pioneer ancesters. The Story of Anne Hansen who saw her friend kidnapped by indians as she was crossing the plains. The story of Samuel Nelson who walked from Nauvoo to Salt lake City without any shoes. I am so inspired by these stories, and with the heritage they left me. The example of my own grandparents, their hard work and endurance through trials, and their ability to lead a good example have always touched my heart. I loved to hear the stories they told about the indians who came to them for food, and how they survived during the great depression. The things I remember most though was the way they bore their testimony to me through their example in the small things they did.

To them it was so important to remember their ancestors who paved the way before us. And now I look to the example of my parents, and hope that I will leave a good example to my children, that when they look in the mirror and see the light that shines in their eyes they will feel the love of their family, both seen and unseen as I have done. I can't wait to see them all again someday. And I hope.... I lived up to my name...

Here are some of my favorite memories from this years Memorial day!!
