So every year when we start school, we have those special moments as a family when we get to have a fathers blessing. Well this year we started off with having interviews with each of the kids, to talk about their goals, and what they wanted to do this year. I am always amazed at how the spirit can just touch me straight to my core and let me know what is most important for my kids to learn. I love the way our Heavenly Father Loves us. So completly, leaving no room for doubt. Mostly I am grateful, to have a worthy companion in our home who can bestow these blessings upon us. I know we will benefit from them.
So what are the kids goals this year:
We started with James. He was so cute. When I asked him what he wanted to learn this year he said. Letters(if you know James, you know he already knows all of his letters and all of the alphabet)play,reading, play, and play. What a cutie. I already can't wait to play with him. He is so easy to teach.
Next it was Jefferson's turn, he surprised me by saying that he really wanted to focus on reading. Reading has been a challenge for him, I was glad to see the desire was really strong for him to learn to read. Next he wanted to explore. I think we'll have to do alot of exploring this year.
He is constantly trying to develop his manly skills. I can't wait till he can go to scouts, and knights of freedom. To help him develop this part of him. He is such a hands on kid. Today he asked Clay if there was a place he could dig. So we sent him out to a corner of the garden with a shovel. And before we knew it he had a very large hole there. He as of yet hasn't decided what he is going to do with it.
Then here came Austin. Austin is so full of energy, when I asked him what his goals were for the year he said "build trains all day, and read every plane and space book in the world. "If you had been at our house lately, you would know we have already covered, ships, tractors, and read half of the plane books from the library. The book we checked out from the library about spacecraft has intrigued him so much, I have had to read it to him everyday for the past 3 weeks. He just can't get enough of it. Then as an afterthought, he said maybe I'll learn to read.
When it was finally Bethany's turn for our interview, I was surprised to find out that she is definitely making the switch from core phase, to love of learning. She had Math, reading, Story of the world, Astronomy, The Body, manners, sewing, cooking, piano, singing, and anything I wanted to add to her list was fine with her.
I can't wait to spend some more time with the kids developing their character and talents.
The most wonderful part of it is being together. Together in the way that only families can be.
This is one of my favorite scriptures, it really brings home to me each of my childrens worth and their value. The way they need to prepare to fulfill their mission here on the earth.
D&C 88 78-80
78 Teach ye diligently and my grace shall attend you, that you may be instructed more perfectly in theory, in principle, in doctrine, in the law of the gospel, in all things that pertain unto the kingdom of God, that are expedient for you to understand;
79 Of things both in heaven and in the earth, and under the earth; things which have been, things which are, things which must shortly come to pass; things which are at home, things which are abroad; the wars and the perplexities of the nations, and the judgments which are on the land; and a knowledge also of countries and of kingdoms—
80 That ye may be prepared in all things when I shall send you again to magnify the calling whereunto I have called you, and the mission with which I have commissioned you.
As I continue to teach my kids I am so grateful to be able to rely on a Loving Heavenly Father, that his grace shall attend unto us. What a Blessing!

I love the interviews with my kiddos. I feel like I know them so well and then we have the interviews and I'm always surprised by what's going on in their heads! It's amazing how they'll push for the "hard" things without any prompting from the parents.
Miss you guys!
Miss you Too!!
